About us

Hi — we're Jeff & Jen.

The hikers behind Alpine Hideaway.

Our story

Two people who'd rather be on a trail.

We're a couple who fell hard for the White Mountains. We've done the Presidential Traverse together, lost track of mornings on Franconia Ridge, and walked more trails through these mountains than we can count — in every season, in every kind of weather. Alpine Hideaway is the home we wished had existed when we first started coming up here ourselves.

Jeff runs Apex Benefits, an insurance agency, and has been chasing a better golf game for longer than he'd care to admit. Jen is a third-grade teacher and a Pure Haven advocate, the non-toxic personal care and home products line. We're both hikers first, parents in spirit, and the kind of people who plan vacations around trail conditions.

We built Alpine Hideaway for the trips we love taking ourselves: a long weekend with the cousins, a ski week with old friends, a summer reset with the kids. The condo is brand new and big enough that everyone gets to actually relax, but the real point is what's just outside the door.

What we care about

The values built into the place.

Time outside, together.

The whole reason this property exists is to get families — ours and yours — on the trail, in the snow, by the river. Devices stay in the bag. Boots are ready by the door.

Clean & non-toxic.

We've tried to source everything inside the home with care — organic, non-chemically treated materials from the linens to the cleaning supplies. No mystery chemicals where we could help it. Especially good for kids and anyone with sensitivities.

Local first.

We send guests to the small businesses we love — The Mountain Wanderer for maps and books, the local outfitters, the family restaurants. Spend your money in town when you can.

Love the Pure Haven products in the house?

Jen is a Pure Haven advocate — if you want to bring any of what you tried in the home back to your own house, you can shop her store directly. (Also: a great way to support a teacher.)
